Saspherton Salon · Marylebone

Three rooms, one evening.

A members' card salon at twenty-two Chiltern Street, six minutes' walk from the Wallace Collection. Open Tuesday through Sunday.

§ Concept

A members' card salon for Marylebone.

Saspherton occupies the ground and first floors of a restored 1887 Victorian townhouse on Chiltern Street. The register is scholarly rather than louche — brass library lamps, deep-forest panelling, parchment-cream linen, candles in silver-plate holders.

Three rooms across two floors: The Card Room, with four mahogany tables and Brussels-trained card hosts; The Hertford Bar, a long mahogany counter named for the Marquesses of Hertford whose collection became the Wallace; and The Dining Room, parchment-cream linen on five tables, British-modern with European technique.

We are open Tuesday through Sunday. Members and their guests reserve in advance. Walk-ups are welcome at the bar when a seat is free.

§ Members and guests

Voices from our tables.

'Saspherton is the only salon in town where the room knows you, the table knows your dinner, and nobody asks if you are "with someone". The brass lamps are properly low; the menu remembers I am gluten-free without being asked twice.'

Annabel R. · Member · Marylebone · since 2026

'Took a guest pass on a Tuesday. The card host was Belgian-trained, polite, and unhurried. The Eccles cakes are not negotiable. We stayed past midnight.'

Theodore L. · Guest · Covent Garden · February 2026

'Wallace Collection at six, Saspherton at eight, Wigmore at ten. This is the working evening I've waited for since the Connaught reopened.'
